When we think of beer, we usually associate it with fun times parties, but when it comes to hair treatment, beer has actually been recommended as a go-to hair care remedy.
Getting soft, silky, strong hair is not that difficult, and even beer can help. And no I'm not saying that you're going to think your hair is amazing and then the beer goggles fade and it looks like absolute trash. I'm saying there are genuinely a number of great things beer can do for your hair.
The malt and hops in beer are stacked with protein which deeply nourishes and strengthens hair. And when your hair is dry (and therefore the strands are open), these proteins attach to the open and damaged parts of your hair and work their magic.
It can even help repair dried out damaged hair to its former lusciousness. The If your hair is dehydrated from blow drying, straightening and harsh whether then the beer proteins will bind to your strands and restore strength and body to it.
By applying the proteins found in beer, the cuticles begin to reorient in an orderly manner - meaning it creates volume within the hair making it wavier and bouncier.
AND... the alcohol in the beer contains B vitamins that load up your hair with shine. (They actually tighten the hair’s cuticles, which makes light bounce off of your hair. Hence shinier. But, that’s all scientific and such.)
Ultimately, including it in your hair conditioner as part of your regular hair care routine can help to balance your scalp and hair oil production.
While you are still in the shower after washing your hair with shampoo and conditioner as normal.
Pour about 1 cup beer over your hair. Work it in with your fingers or a comb, and let it sit for a few minutes. (This will give you time to soap off any leftover beer from your shoulders or arms.) Then, rinse thoroughly.
The smell shouldn't linger but you may want to avoid this right before leaving to go somewhere (or if beer is your go-to pheromone then by all means let it linger)
Apply once or twice a month, or when your hair needs a shine, curl, moisture or health boost.
If your hair is too dry, you can dip the ends of the hair in a bowl of beer and let the beer soak in your hair for a few minutes before rinsing it off the scalp.
You can also spray a small amount of beer on your hair and blow dry it to dry it.
For extra moisture retention, try dipping your hair ends into the beer mixture. Then massage more into the scalp and your entire hair length. Then finally, massage it into the curls at the bottom locking your ends.
I have to tell you that if you know the benefits of beer for your hair, you know beer works like a miracle potion. Beer used as shampoo, conditioner or a hair mask holds so many benefits.
Using a beer in your hair washing routine not only gives your hair moisture and shine, but it also gives it a longer shine, controls dry scalp and charges hair growth. Now all that’s left to do is sit down and have a glass of wine and cheers your hair’s glass of beer.
